Mark Young

School Director

Mark is a retired AutoCAD designer, mechanical engineer, boat builder, airplane designer, motorcycle mechanic & fine woodworker with 50+ years tinkering experience. Mark has a passion for teaching and sharing years of mechanical and tinkering knowledge with people of all ages.

Mark has worked with the original Tinkering School in California for multiple years and is so excited to share his love of tinkering with the staff and campers of Colorado Tinkering School!

Mark’s passions include wooden boat-building, vintage motorcycles, F1 racing, aviation and world war history.

Jeff Grady

Assistant Director

Jeff is an educator, designer, musician and non-profit director who has taught music, art and power tools to 3,000+ young people in Colorado.

Jeff has 8+ years of experience creating Summer Camps including Tinkering School, Rock Band Camp, Recording Arts Camp, DJ Camp, Singer-Songwriter Camp & Film Scoring Camp at the Colorado Springs Conservatory.

Jeff’s passions include paddling hand-made wooden boats, reparing vintage motorcycles, recording music and surfing.

Favorite Tool: Dozuki (Japanese Hand Saw)

Madi Busi

Camp Counselor

Madi was born and raised in Colorado Springs. She is a mother, an art teacher, a nurse, a wood carver, a screen printer and tinkerer extraordinaire!

Madi brings so many talents, so much creativity and so much joy to Tinkering School!

Madi’s passions include all types of art, having fun with her kids, baking, restoring furniture and being rad!

Dave Grady

Camp Counselor

Dave is an airplane builder, craftsman, wood carver, mechanic, handyman, race-car driver, guitarist and pilot with 50+ years Tinkering experience.

Dave is thrilled to be a part of Tinkering School Teaching Staff for another summer!

Dave’s passions include aviation, vintage sports car racing, finger-style guitar and hanging out in his airplane factory.
